Formula 1 is back - without the grid girls

" Formula 1 has returned this weekend with one big difference - there are no grid girls. In the past, you would have seen the likes of professional glamour model Nikki Lee on the tracks ahead of the races.  But following a backlash in the off-season, this will be the first F1 season in decades that won't feature grid girls.

The decision to scrap promo girls hasn't only affected Formula 1. Earlier this year, it was announced walk-on girls would no longer be in use by the Professional Darts Corporation. Supporters of the decision say sports promo girls invite objectification and reduce women's visibility in sports to sideline eye candy."

what is your opinion on this?

He he, strange they survived this long. I would have thought they were gone ages ago.

I can understand it from a marketing perspective, considering the other changes made since Liberty Media took over. Personally I don't think they did any harm being there, but at least now some (very lucky) children will get the opportunity as part of the grid kid scheme.
